Philosophy:
The population that G & D Alternative Living, Inc. serves are mentally/physically challenged individuals that come from every kind of background. We support the concept of normalization and de-institutionalization. We believe that a more normal environment will enable the consumer to develop their abilities and talents to their fullest potential. We want the individual to know that they have the right to be their own person and make the choices in growth and development that affect their lives, and we will be there to support them in their goals and efforts.
Purpose:
G & D Alternative Living, Inc. operates homes for mentally/physically challenged individuals. Our training allows individuals to maximize skills which may have been limited because of environment and /or developmental disabilities. Services are provided to meet the needs of the consumers through unitization of existing community resources and/or through the staff of G & D Alternative Living, Inc. other resources are utilized on a regular basis to facilitate successful adjustment to the community.
Our goals is to provide a pleasant and satisfying environment which will contribute to the total improvement of the overall quality of life for each individual and to develop appropriate interaction skills with friends, peers and neighbors of both sexes. to teach and increase skills in the area of personal hygiene and self-care, to develop abilities in the are of independent thinking and living.
